They represent the structure of your work and don’t need to be changed in order to modify. Each model is connected to a table in a JSON file that represents it. Views are similar to models but instead of storing objects, views represent the structure. While models contain the actual model, views store everything else. Not only does Zapier give us a great interface where we can do quick tasks, it is also quite easy to learn how to implement Zapier in our application in order to interact with one another. I think Zapier is the key to communication that happens on my site, and I really prefer using Zapier because it comes with a ton of functions. There are many features that you need to work with Zapier, such as a chat widget, so that people can respond directly to my messages, or any notifications that are sent to me via email so that people can know what happened or what is going on in the project. Also, Zapier helps me handle long requests, like a certain button in my dashboard to let people get access. And when someone sends a request on my website from a mobile app (for example a post on Instagram post, a comment on Twitter post, a question on Quora, etc.) we can push a notification that brings my response to them directly on my desktop. So, the entire process works automatically. Moreover, Zapier has an API built in and also offers a very convenient UI, giving you a simple view of what Zapier is and what it’s capable of doing. Finally, Zapier has a very solid documentation and integration with GitHub and Github Actions.
In conclusion, I wanted to mention 3 tools that I really like, but they are not yet core to our services and probably won’t be for a while. We all know exactly how hard it can be to use certain programming languages, so we try to incorporate them with these tools in order to have a reliable solution. First of all, we already mentioned PHP, there is no question why we like it so much. Secondly, Ruby, Python and Node are all huge companies. Their popularity combined with high demand and high prices is another fact that drives us to use Ruby, Python or Node. But, even though it seems really complicated to do everything with JavaScript or CSS, you can do a lot with Java/Node. It is true that HTML5 and its specific components are quite hard to grasp so that’s why HTML5 remains an expensive platform. However, with JS frameworks, it becomes easier to get started and get familiar with HTML5 and understand the language. JavaScript is also a very practical language for frontend development. That is why JavaScript frameworks, libraries, frameworks, and tools (like React) are dominating the market. Lastly, React offers a simple library, which can be used to create components based on a predefined pattern, and can also integrate with Angular. Thus, it is really a choice for everyone.
We can not talk about our favorite CSS framework, due to two reasons. Firstly, it is not part of our business, so we do not talk about it. Besides Ruby, we also use Bootstrap so that we don’t need bootstrap tools. It is also very easy to use so even if you want to create a custom element using Bootstrap, it doesn’t really matter, because the whole thing is still the same. Furthermore, if you use Bootstrap and you decide to change some properties of elements such as colours, you don’t have to worry about the browser compatibility. It is a great combination!
